Breakfast at Bill’s

Bills Breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so I was very excited when Bill’s invited me to spend breakfast with them!

I remember when the restaurant first opened in my hometown of Bury St Edmunds – there was a huge queue out the door, and it felt like such a treat to go there. Now I’m in Cambridge, I’m so happy to be in another town with a Bill’s.

The manager, Ben warmly welcomed us when we got there, and told us that he recommends the full breakfasts. I wasn’t going to go against the expert, so I went for the veggie breakfast (Andrew had the meaty one).

On one piece of break was smashed avocado (winner already) with tomatoes and pesto on top. The other had roasted pepper hummus with mushrooms. I was a little apprehensive about having hummus with breakfast, but the combo was absolutely amazing. Topping everything were two perfectly poached eggs.

Opps I forgot the yolk porn alert! Soz guys.

Now, keep in mind this was breakfast, we were just minding our own business when a collection of cocktails found its way to our table! Not wanting to be rude to these new additions to our table, we happily helped out by drinking them…

There was a bloody mary, a Pimm’s spiced punch and a gin and tonic. I’m sure you’ll agree that they’re just gorgeous (if you’re looking for instagrammable cocktails then this is where you need to be). I took the punch and Andrew the gin. The punch was gorgeously cinnamony, reminding me of Christmas. Great to see the winter getting to enjoy a bit of Pimm’s as well! (Let’s face it, it’s always Pimm’s O’Clock).

Lastly, for breakfast dessert (duh, don’t you have breakfast dessert?) we had the banana, strawberry and blueberry pancakes. Soft, sweat, and the perfect way to soak up the alcohol…I mean, end the meal. I personally think they were perfect to share – no one can say they don’t have room for the whole plate!

I was really pleased with our breakfast there, and I’ll be back for sure. It’s good to get there early as there was a queue out the door by the time we left. Booking is super easy on their website, so that’s the best way to go about it.

Bill’s can be found in Cambridge at 34-35 Green St, Cambridge CB2 3JX, and are great for dinner as well – check out my review of their veggie burger here.

I was a guest of Bill’s but all views are my own.
