Brunch in Cambridge – Espresso Library

On my continued search to find Cambridge’s best avocado toast, I found myself at Espresso Library a little while ago. This is a well-known spot just outside central Cambridge, near to Anglia Ruskin University.

In terms of hipster-ness, it probably rates as the highest in town; with the bikes hanging on the walls, the pop up nights with guest chefs, and the abundance of hipster favourites like macha latte, ChariTea soft drinks, and even Club Mate.

During the week, you can easily rock up with your laptop and work there (which is what I was doing) but on the weekends, the wifi is turned off.

Enough of the location – how was the breakfast?

I had their avocado on toast with poached eggs, and a green smoothie. The avocado on toast was lovely, with the eggs perfectly poached. The spring onion was a great topping. The smoothie was also very nice, but it didn’t last long!

Not the cheapest avo toast in town, but I think for the quality of the ingredients, it was worth the little splurge. I will say, however, that their matcha latte is not so nice – is always too cold and the matcha powder doesn’t dissolve into the liquid.

You can find Espresso Library at: 210 East Rd, Cambridge CB1 1BG
