Cambridge From Above

Might I have found the best view in Cambridge?

Take a trip to the top of Great St Mary’s church tower and you will be met with arguable some of the best views in town. All for just a few pounds.

It’s worth noting that this isn’t a trip for those who suffer from claustrophobia. The winding staircase and very narrow steps doesn’t make for easy two-way traffic. Also make sure you’re wearing decent shoes – this is not the time for wobbly high heels!

My photos don’t really do the views justice – from King’s College Chapel, to the Senate House, and the market square opposite, you can see so many different sides to Cambridge from up there. There’s a nice little seating area, so you can take a break and enjoy the views before braving the staircase on your way down! It was quite the icebreaker, and I made a few friends at the top, sharing views and discussing strategies for getting down again!

The tower at Great St Mary’s church is open from 10am – 5:30 (in the summer, 4:30 in the winter). 3.90 for adults, discounts available for students, OAPs etc.
