How to Not Gain Weight While Bossing It

It can often happen. We’re bossing it in our careers, slamming it in the office, but at home we let everything go and find we’re putting on weight. All the control we have from 9-5 melts away and standards slip when it comes to making good life choices.

I have some top tips on how to not to pile on the pounds when you’re bringing home the bacon.

Plan your lunches ahead

It’s fine to have Sunday Funday – as long as that’s fun doing some batch cooking! Planning your meals ahead means that you can make balanced choices AND be organised (leaving more time for faffing in the morning!)

Stop the mid-morning snacking

I have my breakfast bang on 7am, so by mid-morning, I am properly hungry. I used to reach for unhealthy snacks during this time – normally whatever cake has been brought in – but now I come to work armed with healthy snacks, like Ape coconut bites. Have something to hand for when you get home

My worst part is the ten minutes after I get in the door – I reach for all the wrong snacks while I’m cooking dinner. Ape also have a wonderful range of coconut curls which go very well with a dollop of yoghurt.

Have a work walk

If I’m not in schools (therefore driving) then I try to cycle to work as much as possible. While I’m lucky enough to live realllly close to my office, not everyone has the opportunity to not drive to work. If this is you, then why not take a walk at lunch – or even have walking meetings? Get some fresh air, a fresh perspective and work off that cheeky pastry you had at the networking event.

  2. Making fantastic snacks is always a great one. If I know I have something nice in my bag, I’m way less likely to end up with a chocolate bar!

      Exactly! I’m the same with packed lunches. If I have something healthy in my bag, I’m less likely to go for a massive panini at work.
