Mee and I Cambridge

A little while ago I caught wind of a fab Asian fusion restaurant in Cambridge, so I went to check it out.

Usually, I’m not a fan of Asian fusion places as they seem to do a disservice to all the cultures they’re trying to represent, but Mee and I was a very pleasant surprise.

Situated up on castle hill, it’s a bit of a walk to get there, but once you’re there you can expect a bright, clean space, with amazing Asian dishes piled high on plates, for very reasonable prices.

I went there twice in the space of 3 weeks. The first time I had the Miso Glazed Salmon Belly, which was SO YUMMY. The best salmon in Cambridge. Sweet, melting in the mouth, it was perfect. I need to go back and have it again soon. My friend had the challenge spicy noodles, which he felt were sufficiently chalenging in their spice level.

They also serve the beer in mason jars, which is very cute. Approved.

The second time I went there, it was a chilly day so I had the ramen. I had the Five Elements ramen (which doesn’t have meat chunks but the broth is made with fish stock) and my friend had the regular tonkotsu pork ramen.

The ramen was slightly less amazing, maybe because I was remembering how ramen was in Japan. It was authentic, but not the best ramen I’ve ever tasted. Probably comparable to the ones people queue up for in London!

But the food in general is of a very high quality for the prices, and the portion sizes are very large.

I very much enjoyed both my trips to Mee and I; it’s perfect for an informal, chill evening. Go next door to the Architect for a drink afterwards for a perfect evening!
