New Burger in Cambridge: Chosen Bun

Last week I was invited to the best kind of event – a burger event! Cambridge has one new shining star in burgers opening up; Chosen Bun!

These guys have one already open in London, but had a new rebrand just for the Cambridge store, and I was so excited to see what it was all about.

The first thing to know about Chosen Bun is that they are delivery only. If you have images of soggy, broken burgers arriving at your door, fear not as not only do they construct the burger so that the wet components are sheltered from the bun, but they also made THIS AMAZING PACKAGING that they testing BY SENDING A BURGER TO SPACE. I’m not even joking.

If a burger can go to space and stay in one piece, it’s going to make it to you in perfect condition. Chomp.

The second thing to know is that they have amazing Karma Kola there. If you’ve not tried this, then you need to. It reminds me of Fritz Cola in Germany – very tasty!

So, the sides.

The chips – were amazing; chunky, warm with a hint of rosemary.

The onion rings – panko casing, so more of a crumble than a crunch. Very yummy.

The mac and cheese bites – the most popular of the sides (though I preferred the chips…)

With the chips came banana ketchup! I was dubious at first but fell in love with it at first bite. They very kindly gave us a bottle to take home, which I am using with everything (top tip – is amazing with Asda’s sweet potato falafels)

A closeup of that mac and cheese baby. Ohhhhh yeah.

The meat burgers looked very good. I heard good “mmmmms” all around while I selfishly demanded a veggie burger!

Their range of shakes were probably my favourite. I had the oreo shake first, which was SO VERY yummy, and I thought it couldn’t get any better until this salted caramel moonshake made its way to my hands. When you order the moonshakes you get the jar, so it’s great to pop in your bag for later (I took one home with my in my rucksack on my bike and not a drop was spilled).

The veggie burger was very yummy – but has a very spicy sauce on it. The edamame patty was umami to perfection, and I loved the toppings too (except the sauce…). Every ingredient in Chosen Bun’s items have been carefully selected by hand, so you know it’s going to be a great bite.

I’d be quite interested in creating my own burger next time, which is a great option for us veggies who would otherwise be limited. Gluten free buns are also available.

Check out the full range of burgers here.

You can order from Chosen Bun online here, or pop by at 27 Hills Rd, Cambridge CB2 1NW
