Cambridge is a very exciting place to be right now. Things are opening all over the place and the tribe of cool people are finding themselves flinging themselves across the city to try out each new offering.
With the completion of the new station square comes a brand new pub – The Station Tavern. The opening party was an excellent bash filled to the rafters with local influencers and business people.
What I really like about the Station Tavern is that they have really gone out of their way to source good companies to work with. I tried this amazing ale from Moonshine Brewery, a Cambridge company, and was chatting with the guy from there for a while. A lovely drink made by a passionate team.
While we sampled a couple of the nibbles (including the “whoops, it’s all over my face” lemon meringue pie!) there was a table behind us eating from the full menu and the food did look really good. Mussels and fries are in my top-5 in terms of favourite meals, so I really do want to go back to see how they do. I have to report that for the vegetarians out there (I am pescetarian) there aren’t that many good options, with the stereotypical risotto being the main item on offer.
Aside from the extremely friendly staff, the highlight of the night had to be the Bombay Sapphire drinks demonstration, which was very cool. I need to get more creative with my G&Ts – I put some cracked pepper in mine at the event and it was really great!
I think this is really going to be a popular place, and it’s really nice to see such a nice new pub opening in the station area.

I was treated to the evening there but as always all opinions are honest and are my own.
