Thoughts on Skincare

Kiehls Cambridge

Back when I first started blogging, when I lived in Germany, I used to write about makeup and skincare quite a lot. At the time I had a lot of disposable income and also subscribed to two beauty boxes, so I had a lot of products to write about. I did it for a while, but then a couple of readers said that they much preferred when I wrote about living as an expat in Germany rather than the beauty things, so I stopped doing it.

I’ve never been the type of person to play around with makeup, but while I had the money to, I spent out on expensive items, like Keihl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate, which I bought on a whim after a Youtuber recommended it. I still have it today (you only need a tiny bit so it lasts aaaages) and love it to bits.

I have always had poor skin, after having a lot of acne when I was a teen. Right now, I get a couple of spots on my chin and next to my mouth that stay for weeks at a time then just go away overnight. While I feel these are to do with chemicals internally, I’ve recently tightened up my skincare routine to help fight my bad skin.

I’ve gone to a strict 3 or 4 stage nighttime regime (makeup removal, cleanser, wash and then a couple of times a week exfoliation) and then in the morning I’ve started using the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream, which has made a big improvement. I used Boots own brand for years, but I guess paying a little extra for a better product makes all the difference.

So the reason why I am all Kiehl’s all of a sudden is that I was invited to a bloggers’ Christmas evening a couple of weeks ago, celebrating their Disney and Kate Moross collaborations. Their packaging is always very well designed, but these were even cuter. ¬† Kiehls Cambridge

I happened to win a festive quiz and bagged myself a whole box of goodies – so many that I’ve not actually used all of them yet. But I am loving the moisturiser I mentioned above, and the exfoliator I use at night is the lavender scrub (which is strictly speaking a body one, but the lavender smells so good I love using it on my face at night).

I’m happy to be blogging about skincare again as it’s something that’s important to me as someone who has terrible skin. As I work my way through these products I’ll make sure to recommend the best ones!

Have you tried Kiehl’s products before? Which ones do you recommend?

Do check out super cute Disney and Kate Moross collabs when you’re in there next!

Thank¬† you to Kiehl’s for inviting me to the event and for the box of goodies!

Comments

  1. I bought the Disney gift sets for my siblings! My sister has hers already and she loves it! I love Kiehls.

  2. I got a sample of the lavender scrub when I bought the face cream and OH MY WORD IT IS AMAZING! They’ve suckered me in as I’m definitely going back for more. I made my dad buy my sister a load of their stuff for Christmas too – proof that putting on blogger events is worthwhile!

  3. That Christmas packaging on the Midnight Recovery Concentrate is fantastic, I love it! It’s one of those “hero” skincare products that I think makes a really thoughtful gift, and the packaging just adds that little something special to it.

Whatever products I’m sent to try out for the blog, MRC, its daytime equivalent and the Ultra Facial Cream are the products I will keep coming back to, recommend above all others and re-buy for myself. And I too discovered them all at blogger events!

    • It simply lasts an age as well. I remember at the time it was a large amount of money, but years later I’m still using it.
